ABOUT THE SHOW

A place for the people who advocate for readers.

The Literacy Advocate is an interview series hosted by children’s author Timmy Bauer.

Why the show exists

Literacy conversations are often reduced to programs, standards, or arguments about methods. The daily reality is more human. Teachers, librarians, authors, school leaders, parents, and researchers are continually figuring out how to help particular children become confident readers, writers, and thinkers.

What the show explores

Reading instruction, student choice, school libraries, writing, professional learning, curriculum, the science of reading, social-emotional learning, school culture, access to books, and the many ways adults can protect a child’s curiosity.

Where the episodes live

The podcast feed later became a repository for several of Timmy’s shows. This site identifies The Literacy Advocate episodes within that shared feed and brings them back together as one focused archive.
